Birmingham CASE supports the staff of Small Heath School in their opposition to academy conversion. Staff have issued the following statement;

The NUT, NASUWT and ATL at Small Heath School are striking on Wednesday, 13th May in opposition to any attempt to turn the school into an academy.
After 5 previous ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgements, the school (one of the so-called ‘Trojan Horse’ schools) was inspected in January and placed in Special Measures.  The Governing Body was disbanded and an Interim Executive Board was imposed, whose ‘exit strategy’ is for the school to become a sponsored academy.
The teaching unions are clear that this is not the answer to the difficulties that the school faces.
