BCASE supports parents and staff fighting forced academisation at Small Heath School.

The following statement has been issued by parents of Small Heath School who have been campaigning against forced academy status for their school;

Parents and ex-pupils of the Parents of Small Heath (POSH) Campaign are supporting the strike action on Tuesday 20th October by teachers and staff at Small Heath School.

We believe that staff and parents can work together from previous positive experiences to help evoke change and improvement which is much needed for the future of both the school and children’s futures. We do not believe that academisation is the correct solution for a school which previously had 5 consecutive Outstanding ratings by Ofsted. We urge effective Local Authority support and reasonable time to allow for the staff to turn things around, with support and existing working frameworks they wish to use, to guide this school back to what it once was.
